Moderated by Kirstyn Brownson, MD, this Grand Rounds session served as an important update about the University of Utah School of Medicine’s plans for initiating the Longitudinal Integrated Curriculum (LIC) in the second-year medical school class starting in 2024. It will also bring attention to additional changes in the curriculum that are happening in the SOM. Many of these changes will affect the makeup of current surgical teams, which will have both 2nd year and 3rd year medical student learners rotating on services in the coming year. Laurie Leclaire, MD, and Brian Good, MD, will provide additional discussion about the catalyst for the curricular changes in the SOM and the structure of years 1-4 of medical school given these new changes.
