Adam Gordon, MD, MPH, provides an engaging overview of the evolution and impact of addiction health services research supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). He traces the development of the Addiction Health Services Research (AHSR) conferences, illustrating how they foster collaboration, advance methodologies, and disseminate rigorous, policy-relevant science.
Building on this foundation, Dr. Gordon introduces the emerging Association of Addiction Health Services Research (AASHR). He outlines its mission, planned activities, and potential to further mature the field—by strengthening professional networks, advancing implementation and health services methodologies, and cultivating the next generation of addiction health services researchers.
