To this point, medications used to treat symptoms of autism have been developed for other conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder. Now, some medications are being developed specifically for treating autism. Dr. Daniel L. Coury, Medical Director of The Autism Treatment Network of Autism Speaks, talks about two new drugs that are currently being studied to help improve social awareness and relationships and open up restricted behavior patterns.
